After more than three years, OPEN’s UCCA Dune Art Museum has been completed. Located on a quiet stretch of beach in Qinhuangdao, the museum quietly disappears underneath the dunes into which it is carved— creating an intimate space for art hidden between the sea and the sand.
Commissioned by Aranya and operated by the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, China’s leading independent contemporary art institution, the UCCA Dune will be a significant new destination in the Chinese art world. A ceremony held at the museum on October 13th, 2018 celebrated the opening of both the building and its inaugural exhibition, After Nature.
